I went to Ryan’s office (a fast-rising exec with at the time with this killer profile) and let him know it was best for everyone if I moved on. The next morning, I came into work and there was Ryan, sitting right next to me in our little shared cubicle. He told me he had decided to change desks. I learned more watching him in those next few months, and had more fun, than I ever have at work. And thanks to his act of kindness, I ended up not quitting. Ryan Roslansky, you’re one of a kind leader and friend.  Thank you for always setting the bar on doing well & doing good for each other.

Below is the note I shared with our teams. None of this would have happened without you, the people who use LinkedIn and Office every day. You found jobs, hired great teams and learned new skills. You wrote the plans, built the spreadsheets and sent the emails that run businesses all over the world. Watching that happen at the scale of billions of people has been the best part of my career. I can't wait to see what this team and this community build next.

AI has a hand in this, but it’s not the whole story. Hiring is down 30% globally, but applications per applicant are up 30%, compared to pre-pandemic levels. AI has created nearly 2 million new jobs globally in just over three years (!), and the skills employers are looking for are changing twice as fast as the skills U.S. workers are adding to their profiles. (Add your AI skills to your profile folks!) Recruiters are feeling it! They’re at the center, making sure their companies have the skills and teams needed for what’s next. We’re excited to introduce Hiring Assistant 2 to help recruiters spend less time on the mechanics of hiring and more time on the decisions that need their judgement. There’s a lot more to come from #TalentConnect. Join the livestream now: https://lnkd.in/da7AVYP4

The challenge is real for people looking for work and for companies looking to hire with job applications up and honing in on the right people with the right skills has never being harder. So we listened to our customers and built this newest version to go deeper into the hiring process, to help every recruiter win and to give them ability to focus on the right applicants. To quote Isabelle Bousquette from today's story on LIHA 2 in the Wall Street Journal: "Artificial intelligence is complicating an already tricky hiring market in the U.S., but the same technology could also be part of the solution, according to LinkedIn CEO Daniel Shapero." (Link to story in comments.) But behind the scenes is always where the magic happens. Just minutes before everything went live, this team of comms pros, and other great folks not pictured, huddled together in a dark room way in the back of the Javits Convention Center. Together they worked through all the final details and we shared that special moment when all the work you've done becomes real. This is one of the very best parts of working in communications, experiencing the moment together as a team. With today's launch, we've made it even better. It's now: -Smarter, using better reasoning models, persistent memory, and improved personalization from past searches. -Better integrated, allowing seamless workflows across the hiring stack, new voice calls & more. -More trusted, leveraging our fast growing verified identity & skills evidence graphs. All these features are based on our belief that nobody is taking a job without talking to another person. We aim to reduce the overhead in recruiting, so hirers can focus on what really matters: the talent. https://lnkd.in/gmtwNxts

But honestly, my favourite part was how real the conversations were. No one has all the answers right now. Being a CMO now is wild! And I think the best leaders are comfortable saying that. They’re honest about what they know, what they don’t, and what they’re still figuring out.... winning AND struggling with AI, handling geopolitical waves, higher growth targets and more. I loved getting into some of that with Musa Tariq and Carly Gomez as we talked about what it really means to be a CMO today, and how we can help support the next gen of marketing leaders. (My hawt take: get out of marketing for a while. Go do Sales or Product or BD... learn the economics of the business from another chair. It will make you a better marketer.) Huge thanks to CEO Sherry Phillips and Linda Boff, the new magical leader of this CMO group, for creating a room with so much honesty, generosity and openness. ❤️

When we decided to double down on our own data centers and infrastructure rather than continue migrating to Azure, it really came down to timing and scale. Azure was growing at an incredible rate (and still is!) because customer demand was going through the roof, and LinkedIn was seeing its own skyrocketing growth at the same time. Building fresh for the platform we needed was the right strategic bet for LinkedIn's future. While the internet's ChatGPT moment hadn't happened yet, we already saw companies like Meta reaping the benefits of developing larger and larger AI models, and the leverage from the systems they were building to support them. We bet on building that same kind of foundation ourselves and years later, the payoff is that our engineers can design entire systems end-to-end: intelligently splitting inference workloads across GPUs and CPUs, distilling large models into smaller ones that are very good at solving a specific optimization problem, and going as deep as writing our own GPU kernels with Liger Kernel to squeeze more out of every training run. Owning all of this made our teams more disciplined and more creative at the same time. Thanks to Frederic Lardinois for a great conversation at the WeAreDevelopers Conference - video to come!

In other words, is the person you are engaging with a real person? Are they who they say they are? This week we expanded verification to help members and businesses built trust on and off LinkedIn: *Professionals can help verify each other’s experience to give people another way to build credibility through the people they’ve actually worked or studied with. *Businesses can protect their brand reputation with more controls over who is associated with their brand, including new tools to address inaccurate employee associations. *LinkedIn verified identities can travel to more places off LinkedIn, with Truecaller and PeerSpot joining the growing list of ‘Verified on LinkedIn’ partners. Now, LinkedIn is rolling out new tools to help users figure out what is real—and avoid handing over money or their résumés to scammers. The new levers, which the company plans to release this month, focus on verification, a system through which users can submit government identification and their professional email addresses. In turn, their profiles display a check mark, giving it a sign of authenticity. The company says it stops tens of millions of fake members who could scam users by posing as recruiters. Still, some slip through the cracks. The LinkedIn update fills a hole that scammers have used to wrest job seekers’ data and sometimes their cash. Some scammers list themselves as employees of companies where they have never worked. A desperate job seeker might not fact-check that affiliation and, thrilled to be contacted by the purported recruiter, send over her résumé or pay for consulting services to improve her chances at getting a job. 🔗 Read more: https://on.wsj.com/4rvnBdm

You can't talk, let alone do business with someone, when you don't trust who they are. We’ve made good progress here. 75 people now verify their profile every minute, adding to the 115M+ members who have already verified. Along the way, we have learned a lot too.  Every government manages identity differently, there is a cost to validating if a person or company is real, not all companies have work email addresses and more. Overcoming these challenges at scale is hard, but critical to get right. We have a few new features going live to help: 1. We're enabling network verification, promoting verified members to verify connections that they worked or studied with. Obviously there are many edge cases here. Thus, we are building a series of guardrails around this, including ensuring the verifier is already verified, collecting multiple confirmations, time of connection limits, two-factor authentication requirements and more. 2. Company admins can now remove accounts that falsely claim employment from their page (fyi - this will take some time to roll out more broadly) . 3. Rather than requiring everyone to undergo separate, often lengthy, ID checks, you can choose to display your "Verified on LinkedIn" status directly on a growing list of partner platforms, now including Truecaller & PeerSpot

That’s why I’m SO excited about where we’re taking verification at LinkedIn. More than 115 million members are now verified, and we’re building new ways to make that trust more human and useful. Now people who have actually worked or studied alongside you can help verify those shared experiences. Our professional stories aren’t built in isolation and the people who were there are part of what makes those stories credible! We’re also helping companies better protect the brands they’ve worked so hard to build by making it harder for bad actors to falsely claim they work there. Instead of asking people to go looking for what changed, the changes come to them, right where they’re already working. NICE! The best sales teams aren’t working from last quarter’s picture of a customer. They’re up on what’s happening right now. #ItWorksWhereYouWork

The other? How to build the right tech stack to help their teams be more successful. And they don't want more tech, they want their existing solutions to work better together. That’s why I’m excited about the launch of Sales Navigator for Microsoft Teams. We’re bringing LinkedIn’s B2B network intelligence directly into sellers’ flow of work, with real-time alerts that help them spot the moments that matter, from a key decision-maker changing roles to a new contact joining an account. Trust is earned, but even without handing over access to my email, it's clear an agent can simplify booking a restaurant with basic context on my family, what time we eat, our favorite places, etc. - Our agents will know each of us, but will not know everything about the world; for example, which restaurant has a table. So they will need many connectors to the world. - The most important 'ux' element for any site that connects with personal agents will be agent management. When thousands of personal agents call the local sushi restaurants as soon as reservations open, who gets the table, how do you manage no-shows, and how do you even know which agent is real? - There is a whole series of agent management mechanisms that will be developed over the next few weeks/months to solve these problems. - Many places without these mechanisms are going to get flooded by these agents. They can opt out, but will lose demand. So there will be a healthy market for solutions that successfully use AI to manage AI.

“Information is the new bid” and many other gems on AI and Advertising from my teammate Tim Frank in conversation with AdExchanger

I had a far-ranging conversation about the emerging AI economy with Allison Schiff at AdExchanger about what that means for brands, publishers, and commerce. We covered: • The three eras of the internet: human, LLM, and agentic, and how that plays out for brand discoverability • How bot traffic overtaking human traffic changes the discovery equation • The reality that information quality is becoming the new bid • That interviewing AI models is an important component of market research • Why open standards, such as the Universal Commerce Protocol are so critical to give AIs the ability to take action The shift can sound abstract, but my family experienced a small version of it this summer. We used AI to find specialty shops in New York based on things we already liked. It narrowed the options and helped us plan. Then we did the human part: walked around, explored, and bought a little more than planned. :) That balance of spending less time navigating complexity and more time enjoying the experience is where this gets interesting. I think Ethan is right to call out this trend for certain jobs, which will shine a light on which parts of the job are truly valued (and paid for) by the market… because it’s not always what we think at face value. Are universities paying mathematicians for proofs or teaching?

Yes, mathematicians do math, but they also have other tasks they view as important (mentor students, maintain a scientific community, safeguard the future of a field, foster a love of math) that AI can't do At least one worry that mathematicians seem to have is that by focusing on the flashiest, most obvious element of what mathematicians do (make proofs), the AI companies are damaging the other tasks that AI can't do. AI can discover superhuman proofs, but that is not all that the math profession is about, and actually can undermine and reduce the attention to the other aspects of the job that are important to mathematicians. It becomes harder to defend the value of the many other tasks mathematicians do to the outside world if the most visible part is taken away. I suspect we will see more of this across fields and professions that will increasingly be forced to help people understand that their jobs consist not only the most visible tasks that AI can do, but also tasks that the AI cannot do or does badly.

But I never got the rejection letter, so after a couple of weeks I assumed it got lost in the mail and applied again. They brought me in for an interview and hired me because they were impressed I applied again after a no. If that rejection letter had reached me, I'd never have applied again. I'd have taken that no as a no, forever. Every job I've had since came through a connection. Literally every job. So when Yasmin Rufo at BBC asked me how careers really get built, that's my honest answer: a no isn't a no, it's a not right now. This story didn't make the final cut so consider this the bonus footage for my professional community on LinkedIn Invest in your network before you need it. Check out Yamin's great story, including the people on the street interviews, below.

A problem that has resisted humans for generations. Super cool. But that’s not how a billion people are going to decide if AI matters. They’re going to decide it matters when it gives them time back. When Sunday night isn’t spent doing expense reports. When a five-step approval becomes one step. When a doctor catches a disease earlier. When a kid anywhere in the world gets access to a great teacher. When healthcare gets better and more affordable. Kevin Scott put it this way: “A.I. is one of the most powerful things humans have ever invented for improving the quality of life of everyone, but it will take time. It should take time. We've always tackled super-challenging problems through technology. And so, we can either tell ourselves a good story about the future or a bad story about the future, and, whichever one we choose, that's probably the one that'll come true.” The question is what we choose to do with it. I think the best companies start with a vision: What is the world we want this technology to help create? Then work backwards... Build toward that vision AND put the safeguards in place to do it responsibly. The answer isn’t to start from fear, or to ignore the risks. It’s to be clear about the future we want, and build toward it with safeguards from the start. This is a time for real leadership. Technical brilliance matters enormously. But so do judgment, experience, empathy, and an understanding of how businesses and institutions actually work, and how change actually lands on people. The technology isn’t going to decide what kind of future we build with it. We will.

Yet by the time C-suite leadership opportunities emerge, that representation is cut in half. ALERT!! New data from LinkedIn's Economic Graph in the World Economic Forum’s Global Gender Gap Report shows women hold 46% of entry-level roles across 57 economies, but only 23% of C-suite positions. After a decade of limited gains, progress in women’s leadership has now stalled for four consecutive years. And it's not only showing up in leadership pipelines. LinkedIn members identifying as founders have more than tripled since 2022, yet women’s share remains stuck at just 28%, and those female founders are less likely to have AI skills than their male counterparts. To me, this challenge isn’t about a lack of ambition or talent. It's a signal that too many of the systems that shape who advances, who leads, and who gets to build companies are broken.  WE MUST FIX THIS!!! The good news? We know what DOES work. Focusing on coaching and skills development, sponsoring high-performing women, and ensuring accountability exists at senior levels is critical to bringing more women into the equation. LinkedIn saw that everyone had so much to say about how we as GenZ show up in the workplace that they invited me out to headquarters in Mountain View, CA to ask the questions to the man in charge-- CEO Daniel Shapero. Dan and I got to talk honestly about what’s happening with early career opportunities and how to create experiences for yourself in a changing work climate. We also talked about the elephant in the room… what AI means for professionals navigating their first jobs. The biggest takeaways I’m leaving with? 1️⃣ Be generous with your experience. ⏩ Share your learnings and what it took for you to get there. That doesn't have to mean posting if you’re not ready for that. Comment and engage to maintain your connections and celebrate wins alongside others. 2️⃣ ”Connectionmaxxing” (as the Gen Alphas are calling it) doesn’t do much for ya in terms of creating opportunity. Those 500+ connections should be people you’ve actually engaged with, not just strangers on the internet. ⏩ Cultivating meaningful relationships will always bring you more value than spray-and-pray connecting. 3️⃣ There are fewer entry level jobs, we’re not imagining that… but the data suggest it’s not necessarily AI’s fault. Interest rates are actually the more likely culprit. ⏩ Standing out obviously matters more than ever, but using AI to apply for more jobs isn’t the solution. What is working, is investing in the human relationships that undergird every employment decision. Can’t wait to share the full interview with you soon 😀 #LinkedInPartner #GenZintheWorkplace #Postgrad #EarlyCareer #GenZ

At its heart, it provides a critical combination of technology and trust. it offers continuous capital to flow -- without the friction of borders or time zones. But I'm working on it and as with most things the only way to get good is to keep doing. In other words, when you watch this share feedback and as video rental stores used to say in the 90's be kind [and rewind]. But I'm not alone here. For all of us, it's true that the only way to get good is to get going. And get going on LinkedIn. This the the platform, and one of the few places, where all the audiences that matter come together. For the c-suite that's employees, customers, investors, future hires, etc. So as you push yourself and your exec to get started sharing on LinkedIn, here are a few simple things to focus on first: 1) The Follow button is your friend: On your profile flip the primary connection option from connect to follow. You'll save connections for people you know in real life and growing a following allows a broader set of folks to learn from and engage with you over time. 2) Use the Featured section: This is your highlight reel, the small set of content that you want people to see first. Pin the posts, interviews or important company moments that best reflect what you care about and how you lead. 3) Just start posting and avoid the corporate speak: It's hard I know, we've been trained to talk a certain way at work. But it is the direct, authentic perspective that shows who YOU are that people want. That's what helps the audience you care about get to know the real you. Want more tips? Plenty of people are still doing it that way — nobody is going to be more invested in your fluency than you. But the pace of AI has pushed the load past what individual effort can carry on its own. We've ended up splitting it three ways. The first part stays with the individual, and I don't want to soften that. The second sits with the company and it costs money. The third sits with whoever is running the place and it costs something harder to give; time. Companies that leave all three on the employee will get the fluency of the people who had time. On Freshworks’ share: we run a program called AI in Motion. We recently wrapped the third installment — three regional events across 11 cities, thousands of employees. Those events produced 25 innovation showcases: working prototypes from SecOps, IT, CX, Sales, Sales Ops, Engineering and Product, each one built against real customer or business problems. And 15 sessions where employees taught other employees how they're using AI in their own jobs — financial workflows, building pipeline, prototyping. Two things about that. It happened on work time, not on people's weekends. And it wasn't built for engineers. The prototypes that surprised me came out of functions that don't write code for a living. On the leadership share: I plan my whole training year in Claude — I run four races a summer and the plan is built and adjusted there. I also build prototypes in Lovable and send them to the product team. They're usually terrible ideas, but you can't set expectations from a distance. If the people running a company aren't in the tools, everyone below them reads that accurately, and no training program closes that gap. Here's what it looks like when fluency lands. Our product development lifecycle has changed. Designers work in Figma, push through Figma Make directly to code, and we've built the hooks into our production environment so what comes out already meets our internal coding standards. QA is largely automated. Cycle times are ~30% faster and AI products ship on a two-week cycle, which we weren't doing before. We've also turned our own AI Email agent on our own billing questions. It handled about 30% of them from the day we switched it on. Neither of those came from buying something. They came from people who already worked here figuring out what the tools could do in their part of the business. Most of our customers aren't from the tech industry. They're not benchmarking models on the weekend. They're looking to us to be conversant enough in this to help them get from experimentation to real use, and you can't outsource that to your product. Most of the AI debate at the CEO level is about which model, which stack, how much budget. That debate matters. What determines whether AI shows up in the P&L is whether the people you already employ know how to use what you've already bought

We are the first company to provably produce precipitation in Alaska. As promised, we’ve linked our white paper and relevant data. In the future, Rainmaker will protect and restore glaciers with man-made snowfall. Immediately, this demonstration shows how Rainmaker will add new water to the Colorado River and Great Salt Lake in the coming months. We turned around this analysis and white paper just a couple days after operating. There are many data sources I want to deepen our understanding of the atmosphere and increase our provable production; we’re building the instruments to collect that data in subsequent operations. But at Rainmaker, we won’t tout LOIs, simulations, or lab tests. What matters is physically measuring that you’ve affected the atmosphere; proving that we’ve produced water. We prefer sharing only the tech that has proven to make more water for farms, industries, and ecosystems in need. Expect a regular cadence of these from us as we build the best atmospheric science lab in the world. Feedback is welcome in the interim. Rainmaker Century. https://lnkd.in/gHi8YQSB

But are we doing enough for young people to navigate this shift? Young talent is uniquely positioned to shape how AI transforms the world of work, if we set them up for success. This means employers, educators, and workforce organizations need to ensure they continue to have access to meaningful early-career opportunities. In our Forbes op-ed, Susan Murray and I share why rethinking career pathways matters for the next generation, and for the organizations and economy they'll help build. https://lnkd.in/gmevusBU

The kids are learning not only how to compete, but how to celebrate one another. What a meaningful thing to learn early.

Someone sent me what was clearly an AI generated doc. I read it, realized it was all AI, had my AI summarize it and ended up with nothing that brought new thinking to the idea... This is a doom loop.  If we're not careful, we'll end up with a very expensive way to avoid writing and reading in an ocean of sameness, genericness... Let's not do that. Let's go another way where AI helps us to do things, to learn things, to create things, but in ways that we enhance and advance with our distinct perspectives and unique experiences!

LinkedIn's Economic Graph team's new research on women in the AI economy highlights an important challenge. AI roles are among the fastest-growing and highest-paying jobs, yet women account for just 26% of new hires into those roles, and representation declines even further at senior levels. That gap matters because this isn't just a story about technology. It's a story about opportunity. As AI reshapes work, we have a chance to build the pathways for more women to enter, advance, and lead the future of work as the AI economy grows. I'd encourage everyone to spend some time with the findings because understanding how opportunity is changing is one of the first steps to helping more people participate in it! 💪 https://lnkd.in/gKVxAa6d

And you can spend it on cool sh-t or even pay bills, but you can’t use it to invest in your future. If you’re 25 you might have 40 years of work left. You won’t remember the 10k more but you will remember the boss who changed your life or the opportunity that opened your mind or the when you learned what risks to take or not to take. You should make as much money as you want or need. But that’s the short game. You’ll do better in the end if you play the long game. Opportunity should be priced in to your decisions, because it's a mistake to just think about salary. And tbh, it's really not much more complicated than that.

The wire rang out with a sharp metallic twang, and his immediate thought was: “That’s a laser gun.” He later returned, struck the wire with a wrench, recorded it, and that unexpected sound became the foundation of the blasters heard throughout Star Wars. That same spirit of curiosity and experimentation is exactly what I loved discussing with Shelley Roden from Skywalker Sound on this week’s episode of ROLL THE CREDITS. Some of cinema’s most unforgettable sounds don’t come from expensive technology but from simply paying attention to the world around you.

But this one is personal. AI is about to mint a staggering number of new millionaires and billionaires. In fact, according to ChatGPT, The Bay Area alone could see $200–300B of new liquid wealth over the next few years (ironically - most of this coming from people who work for ChatGPT's parent OpenAI). And I keep hearing that these people should reinvent philanthropy. Why? We already know how to do philanthropy. There are incredible organizations filled with people who have spent decades figuring out how to solve hard problems. They don’t need Silicon Valley to build them a new operating system. They need Silicon Valley to write the check. My own deep personal involvement with JVS - Bay Area has made this particularly clear to me. There are remarkable organizations doing profoundly important work—but far too often, the constraint isn't ideas. It’s resources. That’s the argument Lisa Countryman-Quiroz and I make in our new Fortune Op-Ed: https://lnkd.in/e482aYfA So, for all you already (or soon-to-be) AI millionaires (or deca/centa millionaires, or billionaires) - please, pick a capable philanthropic platform that already exists and give (generously) to help here.

We have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to ensure it also expands opportunity. In our new Fortune op-ed, Max Simkoff and I make the case that the next wave of AI philanthropy should invest in the nonprofits already helping people and communities thrive. Across the country, organizations are responding to changing needs every day, building partnerships, innovating, and creating pathways to economic mobility. At JVS - Bay Area, we've seen how quickly the workforce is evolving. We've adapted our training programs, integrated AI skills across our services, and continue to partner with employers to prepare people for quality careers in an AI-enabled economy. Most of us (including me) use AI in some way in our communication, whether to pressure-test some idea, research something, or sharpen our thinking. But we’ve all seen what happens when too much of that sharpening becomes the actual sharing — the content sounds the same and often doesn't stand up to scrutiny. A couple months ago, there was a Substack piece (you likely know the one) that tried to tackle this question and caused quite a stir in nonprofit circles. It argued that the nonprofit sector is "orders of magnitude" away from being able to absorb incoming AI philanthropic capital — and that we need new "philanthropic startups" with "tech-caliber talent" to get the job done. We have to bridge this fundamental misunderstanding in order to deploy AI wealth for the greatest good. And I’d like to start by inviting tech leaders to learn more about my sector before they decide to build from scratch. Here’s what you need to know: The nonprofit sector isn't a blank slate waiting for tech to arrive with better ideas or more efficient execution. It's the infrastructure behind some of the most consequential progress in modern history — from the expansion of public education to the response to the AIDS crisis to the environmental movement that gave us the Clean Air and Clean Water Acts. Nonprofits (almost 2 million of them in the U.S. alone!) are run by talented, tenacious people who have spent careers learning exactly what it takes to solve enormous societal challenges. They know how to build trust in communities that have been let down before, how to navigate the gap between policy and people's actual lives, and, for better or worse, how to do more with less year after year. At JVS - Bay Area, we've been helping workers access stable, well-paid jobs for 50 years. When AI started reshaping employment at high speed, we didn't wait for someone to build a new organization to address it. We sunsetted programs that were no longer serving jobseekers, built new ones in sectors more resistant to automation, and integrated AI skills across our training. Despite all the headwinds, our graduates are generally able to secure jobs within less than a month of completing our programs. That's what nonprofits do — we adapt. Because adapting and innovating is how we change peoples’ lives for the better. The nonprofit sector has been waiting a long time for partners with the resources to match its ambition. If you're thinking seriously about where your philanthropic dollars should go, I hope you'll start by getting curious about what already exists. There's a lot here worth knowing. https://lnkd.in/gZDHRRGJ #Philanthropy #NonprofitSector #AI

It's our people, the conversations, connections, and shared ambition that come from bringing teams together around what's coming next. Last week, we spent time aligning on our priorities for the year ahead and the opportunities we have to create even more impact for our members and customers. In a world being reshaped by AI and constant change, shared clarity and context allows teams to move faster, make better decisions, and focus on the work that matters most. It's also a reminder that the human side of work, building relationships, strengthening trust, and rallying around a shared purpose, matters more than ever. As we kick off FY27, I'm reminded that some things remain constant: great teams, strong relationships, and a shared commitment to building something meaningful together. #LinkedInLife

But we want to promote human insights and sharing here.  So please see more info on what we’re doing to reduce AI slop on LinkedIn from our CPO Hari Srinivasan. https://lnkd.in/g2vNdN_F

On comments alone, everyday we are now catching hundreds of thousands of automated comment attempts, and have blocked billions of other automation attempts (posting at scale, slop) in the last couple months alone. - We are ramping up a series of new and improved classifiers that identify if a post is AI-slop or generally low-quality content. This will reduce the amount of AI slop you might see in suggested content and content from outside your network. - We are ramping the ability for members to tell us if they believe a post or comment seems like AI slop. Slop is hard to define and the definition changes; this lets us tune our models and make better feeds. - For anyone who shares content, we will test a way to privately flag, in your analytics dashboard, when members feel your post may have come off as inauthentic or heavy use of AI. This approach is based on two learnings.  First, AI and slop are not the same thing; many people refine thoughts with AI, and we believe they want to know when they sound inauthentic. Second, we want members to get feedback from real humans on what sounds authentic - not just have an AI detector review it and get it wrong. - We asked ourselves why do people post with AI anyway?  The answer is LinkedIn isn’t a one-word kind of place and they feel more confident running their posts through AI.   We’re taking this learning, removing the ‘enhance your post’ feature you see when you write a post or message & replacing with a feature that proofreads your words, but does not change your voice. - Finally, we continue to expand profile & pages verification so members know who they are connecting with and who is writing the content they are reading. You’ll also be able to block any comments from Company pages you no longer want to see. There is more to come.  Will do a better job keeping you all updated too.

At LinkedIn we saw a while ago that the cost trends were clear, and that the future of our products would be powered by increasingly compute-expensive AI workloads that are more intelligent, more capable, and more useful. But those workloads have to be ROI positive, and that’s not something you can just wake up and do overnight. So we set ourselves a challenge that sounds counterintuitive in today’s environment: how do we deliver increasingly sophisticated AI experiences while keeping our compute footprint as close to flat as possible? This is where owning our own data centers and infrastructure as an applied ML company really pays off, because we can put in the instrumentation and make efficiency a long term investment up and down the stack rather than a one-time push. None of it came from a single breakthrough - it’s the outcome of hundreds of improvements, from optimizing GPU utilization and workload allocation to distilling larger models into smaller and more efficient ones to rethinking how work is distributed across training, inference, storage, and systems design. The results of that intentional push are starting to play out in terms of better experiences for our members and customers while giving our engineers the flexibility to keep innovating. Raghu and I recently sat down with Paresh Dave at WIRED to talk through all of this, check it out! https://lnkd.in/guYj674d

At LinkedIn, it’s our agility and craft that’s positioned us to drive innovation on our platform, tame cost and resource challenges, and deliver at unprecedented scale for our members and customers. Our Engineering teams have leaned into our full-stack technology approach, making improvements at every layer that have set us on a positive path of compute efficiency, faster product iteration, and the integration of even more complex AI and agent capabilities. Erran Berger and I sat down with Paresh Dave at Wired for a great conversation about navigating the compute and efficiency demands in this AI era, including what we’ve been able to accomplish with engineering innovation to maintain our compute needs but accelerate new and improved product experiences across LinkedIn. The more disciplined and thoughtful we are with our craft, the more we can do for everyone who relies on LinkedIn to discover and grow their economic opportunities. https://lnkd.in/g58WpFSH

We saw broad-based momentum across the business, including double-digit member growth, 16% growth in Marketing Solutions, continued growth in Premium, and accelerating adoption of our AI-powered hiring solutions. At the same time, we're seeing our investments in AI improve both customer outcomes and operational efficiency. Coming out of our Company Kickoff last week, I'm energized by the focus and ambition across our teams. Thank you to everyone who helped make FY26 a success and looking forward to what's ahead in FY27.

And our new Collaborative Posts feature on LinkedIn does just that! These are so fun! You’ve probably seen a handful of Collaborative Posts in your feed from our early testing group and now we’re officially starting to roll this out globally over the next few weeks for both LinkedIn members and Company Pages. This is a massively exciting moment for LinkedIn creators, marketers, executives, and teams across the world who are working together to make magic happen! And this didn’t happen overnight, nor did it come from just one person. Proud of the incredible teamwork of LinkedIn colleagues like Howie F. Fung, Claudia Johnston, Lisa C., Pratheeksha K Seetharama and more who have worked tirelessly to bring this to life. See more here for info on this feature - https://lnkd.in/p/eJhcaJuu. SO…who wants to collaborate on LinkedIn with me?

This week’s LinkedIn' Company Kickoff was a powerful reminder of what makes LinkedIn special. Across three days, teams in offices around the world came together to share and align on our priorities for the year ahead. Along the way, we celebrated the incredible talent across teams that makes our company unique. What stood out most to me was the opportunity ahead. AI is transforming how professionals and businesses learn, work, hire and grow. It’s creating new opportunities, some challenges, and lots of questions about what’s next. The platform we operate has never been more important to help our members and customers navigate the new world of work. I'm leaving inspired by our people and energized by what’s ahead in FY27. I’m also excited to carry this momentum into next week for Sales Kickoff (SK27) where I will be hosting events in Singapore, Dublin and New York. Let's go! #LinkedInLife #SKworldtour #jetlagcoming

The key is to optimize the cost-to-outcome frontier in real world context. In practical terms, that means using the right model for each task, and optimizing the context, skills, tools, and agent harness around it. This is the motivation behind our MAI model family. These models have been built ground up with clean data lineage and optimized for learning transfer from generalist to specialized skills in enterprise RLEs. We continue to make rapid progress in this pursuit. We can now take saturated frontier capabilities and deliver them at scale and at lower cost through models optimized for high-usage products, while continuing to use frontier models for frontier needs. We are proving this out across our first party products, and thereby creating a template for every other AI native, SaaS, or Enterprise company out there. In our products, frontier models from OpenAI and Anthropic are part of the orchestration system alongside MAI. But the model is only one part of the hill-climbing system. Harness, memory, context, tools, skills, user interactions, etc. all shape the evals and performance of these agentic systems. The other key criteria to ensure that you are in control, is your evals should continue to hill climb even when any given model has been removed. Therefore we build RLEs where models learn inside the product system and are rewarded for completing the tasks customers actually care about. We train models against the actual product harness, interactions, and outcomes they will encounter. And strategically ensure that the harness, memory, context, skills are externalized outside of the model. Product-specific evals and model independence give us the control and a direct hill to climb, and to keep refining until we reach the right quality-cost target. We are now seeing MAI models outperform general-purpose frontier models in many use cases while using a fraction of the tokens. We believe the biggest opportunity is to optimize all of these layers together in the products where the world works every day. And we are beginning to route traffic across our first-party surfaces to MAI whenever our models match or outperform frontier alternatives. We are seeing promising early results across GitHub Copilot, Excel, and Outlook and are beginning to take the same approach across Copilot Chat, PowerPoint, and more. And all these results will only get better as the entire system keeps hill-climbing! What we are doing across our first party products is also what every enterprise customer can be doing in their real world agentic systems with their proprietary evals, their proprietary RLEs, workflows, and context. We are making all this available as part of Foundry and our toolchain. Read more here: https://lnkd.in/gR7UgHkp

Hint: it’s all of us at LinkedIn. Today we wrap CKO, one of my favorite weeks of the year, our annual event that brings our employees around the world together to align on where we're headed and what matters most in the new fiscal year ahead. A lot goes into creating the unique energy that comes from thousands of people connecting their work to something bigger than themselves. Months of planning across teams, endless logistics, member stories, customer voices and interactive experiences that bring our priorities to life. From the festival-sized tent in Mountain View, to employees around the world sharing hot takes and learnings in our internal Company Group, to the truly impressive feat of clearing calendars for more than 17,000 people. Fittingly Lisa Mudge jokes that CKO is LinkedIn's version of Coachella. She’s not wrong. She, our Employee Comms crew and so many cross functional teams came together to make one incredible moment. But it's also something more important: a chance to start our fiscal year with clarity.

This is a meaningful change for me not just because it affords the opportunity to focus on what has always been my passion point, but because it was necessary – not just for XBOX, but the entire gaming industry. Our leaders have been clear: We want to create amazing experiences for our fans *and* have the business that supports these experiences in a healthy place. Today we launched and important step in this journey: Ad-supported cloud streaming - a more affordable way for players to get more value from XBOX. What do we hope to learn? It's simple: The level of value this provides to our players *and* creating a great experience for our advertising customers to unlock this value. How will we do it? By staying true to our principles, outlined in the blog post below: 1. We start with the player. Ads should create value. 2. We do not interrupt the flow of gameplay. 3. We hold ads to the same quality bar as our content. 4. We’re clear about what’s advertising. 5. We make sure ads fit what players expect on each platform. The result? Better player value, and better more demonstrable outcomes for our advertising partners. My team at XBOX Media Solutions will be exclusively bringing this to market, first with a select group of our most strategic clients. If you are a brand or agency who would like to be involved as we move forward, please reach out. https://lnkd.in/gx8RrmJm

At LinkedIn, we had a hypotheses that LLMs can be applied to traditional ranking and recommendations problems by better understanding what members find relevant. But using them for a domain like ads is far from straightforward. Decisions need to happen at enormous scale and in a fraction of a second, which means the usual approach quickly becomes too slow and too expensive. That’s the engineering challenge Xīan Xíng Zhāng, Distinguished Software Engineer for Ads AI, and his team took on. They designed a way to use LLMs to better match what members are looking for with what advertisers are offering, while maintaining the efficiency and performance needed to operate at the scale of LinkedIn.

What makes it stand out today is as mix of established companies, startups, venture capital, investors and talent - especially from UT Austin - that continues to fuel its growth. That's reflected in LinkedIn's new Cities on the Rise report, where Austin once again ranks among the country's fastest-growing markets. It's also part of a broader trend we're seeing in our data: more professionals are looking beyond traditional hubs for opportunity. Lastly, it's also an incredibly fun and easy city to live in with world-class food music and outdoor activities. Check out this year's Cities on the Rise ranking: https://lnkd.in/gNXHW2YW

It started as me talking about the side of my life nobody sees, the business, the investing, the things I've been building for years. That one post went so viral that people on X, on Instagram, and news outlets I'd never talked to were all covering it. The numbers aren't even the part that got me. It's the comments. Founders, young athletes, people who've built companies I'd never heard of, all in one thread. I've read every single one, and I've reached out to more than a few. What it showed me is simple. People don't care about the flash. They want to see you build something that outlasts you. Too many of us athletes pour everything into what's gone the second the career ends, the cars, the chains, the stuff that feels good today. I did some of that too. I just wish somebody told me sooner to put that same energy into myself, into things that keep paying long after the game lets you go. If you're an athlete, don't chase the temporary. Bet on who you are with the pads off, and do it right. The love on here has been unreal. Keep talking to me in the comments, I'm reading all of them.

But too often, offsite agendas get filled with content that could have happened over Teams or email. Carolyn Giang and our international comms team did a great job of this last month in Paris. My favorite session was the prepared brainstorm. Each country lead came in with three ideas ready to pitch to the group (aka a kinder version of Shark Tank). We all did the pre-work and read the materials beforehand, so instead of spending the session getting up to speed, we pressure tested the ideas, built on the thinking, and left with fewer, stronger programs. I also left our time together with the fresh reminder of the incredible expertise our regional teams bring – and how much stronger our work is because of it. Lisa Mudge's employee comms offsite earlier this year took a similar approach, and it reinforced the same lesson: if you're bringing people together, make it count. In person time is limited. Use it for the conversations, debates, and collaboration that don't happen as well over Teams or an email. Planning a team offsite? My advice: cut anything that could have been an email or Teams call.

Workers are asking for: 1. Salary vs hourly pay, to protect against automation. 2. Job-security guarantees (unclear what this means, but includes increasing the retirement age), to protect against reductions. 3. Bonuses tied to stock & net profits, to get some of the AI upside. https://lnkd.in/gT9_qhRC

I did not expect to be in the same sentence as a Daytime Emmy nomination. I also didn’t expect a lot of things. That’s kind of the point of the show. To the guests who shared their paths, and the team who built this from nothing, apparently the path leads to some unexpected places! https://lnkd.in/gHUZDZC4 Stephen F. This feels like a great product. Clear pain points, clear time savings & clear respect for the practitioner. Feels rare in AI products; it's not just our benchmark now shows we can do your whole job. Nice work Drew Bent & team. Good for all of us if this really helps teachers teach.

It works in the background, while teachers can focus on what’s most important: time with their students. Teachers have been experimenting with AI for some time, but we at Anthropic kept hearing from teachers about the need for something that was aligned to curriculum and evidence based. I think what the team has built is special in a few ways: 1) A foundation in curriculum and learning science -- Claude for Teachers comes with the Learning Commons connector: academic standards in all 50 states, the prerequisite skills beneath each one, and curriculum context from high-quality providers like Illustrative Math and OpenSciEd. Ask for a lesson on constructing linear functions and Claude pulls the standard, notes the misconceptions students typically hold, and builds the lesson around them. 2) Teaching skills, co-built with nonprofit Learning Commons -- These enable teachers to build lesson plans and differentiate instruction. Importantly, they are built to work well in Cowork, allowing teachers to harness the full agentic capabilities of these models. Teachers can control what they share (past lesson plans, student assessment data, etc) and have Claude automatically work for them each evening. It will help them prepare materials for the next day, tailored to their exact students. 3) Privacy first -- We don’t train on teacher conversations and student information is protected by our terms that are written to comply with FERPA. We worked closely with the American Federation of Teachers to align it with their new gold-standard privacy principles. Randi Weingarten, their president, calls it “a tool designed by and for educators... to give them more time for the human relationships at the heart of learning.” 4) Ecosystem approach -- Nine education connectors are available at launch, connecting to tools loved by teachers like TeachFX, MagicSchool, and Brisk Teaching. We’re also releasing a new free AI Fluency for Teachers course with Teach For America. And we’re taking everything we learned and releasing our Skills and evals as public goods, so everyone can leverage them. There is a whole team to thank, including our partners and teachers. I especially want to call out Sofia Wilson and Alex Kasavin, who co-led this. This started as Sofia’s onboarding project, and Alex was her spin-up buddy. In typical Anthropic fashion, we like to give employees overly ambitious spin-up projects (Claude Code was itself one). This was no exception. From the start, the two of them were laser focused on building the highest quality tools for teachers. And it was Elizabeth Kelly and Daniela Amodei who empowered our team to build a product focused on teachers and learning outcomes, first and foremost. If you’re a teacher, you get Claude for Teachers for free starting today: https://lnkd.in/gfRYVmjj

Within Microsoft Copilot, you start something in Word, pull the numbers in Excel, then try to turn it into a story in PowerPoint. The whole time, you're the one making the calls, reading the context, and deciding what actually matters. That’s why the right model in the flow of work matters! Starting today, OpenAI’s GPT 5.6 is beginning to roll out across Word, Excel and PowerPoint which gives customers the world-class reasoning capabilities in the tools where work gets done. Thoroughly enjoyed the conversation covering a wide range of topics about LinkedIn as a platform and how it can be an asset in shaping one’s career. Equally, I loved being able to bridge two sides of my world - my professional life and purpose at LinkedIn, with my personal love and connection with Tamil. It was there that James Otis’s challenge to arbitrary government searches inspired John Adams to later say the true spirit of independence was born when the meaning of freedom was first understood. As America celebrates 250 years, the lesson endures: trust is the foundation of freedom. And each generation must decide how to protect it in a changing world. Here's the takeaway for me: Trust is built when people can see the work, the progress, the setbacks, the learning, and the consistency over time. Not just the highlight reel. In a world where everyone is tempted to post "look at me" content, the real value often comes from documenting the process -- on LinkedIn it's expected because people want to learn when they open up the app. The journey provides the context. The context builds credibility. And credibility creates trust. That's what I took away from this discussion: whether you're an iconic brand or hoops legend or just a professional navigating your industry -- don't just announce what happened. Share how you got there -- even the messy parts. cc: LinkedIn for Marketing Full discussion here: https://lnkd.in/p/dZJmNB7Y

At a festival where the biggest conversations are usually about AI, creators, and the future of advertising, it wasn't what I expected to be on stage for. I was wrong. It was incredible. The panel of Durana Elmi, Allyson Felix, Hoda Kotb, and Lauren Gellman Farrington talked about career, family, and creating lives that feel meaningful both professionally and personally. We took a moment to have a conversation about motherhood, ambition, and how we define success across different stages of life. It was a gift. Especially with my daughter in the audience, that’s her (Sierra Leverich) in the picture with Allyson. A few highlights: Hoda Kotb sharing that she became a mother after 50 and reminding us that “everything happens when it’s supposed to.” Lauren Gellman Farrington talking about setting boundaries and unapologetically sharing the parts of life that matter most, including photos from her son’s kindergarten graduation. Allyson Felix describing her daughter proudly breaking down her mom's shoe company for her classmates. This group of ambitious and successful women blew me away. Each story reflected something different and what stayed with me is that there's no single version of success. It changes as our lives change, and that's a good thing. Until next time, hot and sweaty Cannes.
