Below is the note I shared with our teams. None of this would have happened without you, the people who use LinkedIn and Office every day. You found jobs, hired great teams and learned new skills. You wrote the plans, built the spreadsheets and sent the emails that run businesses all over the world. Watching that happen at the scale of billions of people has been the best part of my career. I can't wait to see what this team and this community build next.

A problem that has resisted humans for generations. Super cool. But that’s not how a billion people are going to decide if AI matters. They’re going to decide it matters when it gives them time back. When Sunday night isn’t spent doing expense reports. When a five-step approval becomes one step. When a doctor catches a disease earlier. When a kid anywhere in the world gets access to a great teacher. When healthcare gets better and more affordable. Kevin Scott put it this way: “A.I. is one of the most powerful things humans have ever invented for improving the quality of life of everyone, but it will take time. It should take time. We've always tackled super-challenging problems through technology. And so, we can either tell ourselves a good story about the future or a bad story about the future, and, whichever one we choose, that's probably the one that'll come true.” The question is what we choose to do with it. I think the best companies start with a vision: What is the world we want this technology to help create? Then work backwards... Build toward that vision AND put the safeguards in place to do it responsibly. The answer isn’t to start from fear, or to ignore the risks. It’s to be clear about the future we want, and build toward it with safeguards from the start. This is a time for real leadership. Technical brilliance matters enormously. But so do judgment, experience, empathy, and an understanding of how businesses and institutions actually work, and how change actually lands on people. The technology isn’t going to decide what kind of future we build with it. We will.

NFL kicks off tonight. So cool to see Seahawks analyst Brian Eayrs and other coaches across the league are using Copilot in Excel on the sidelines this season. Will Excel’s Brian Jones end up being the Seahawks MVP this year 😄 https://lnkd.in/g7EECTE4

It’s a Buddhist concept: taking genuine joy in someone else’s success... Truly feeling happy because something good happened for someone else. The coach made it part of the team’s culture. The kids are learning not only how to compete, but how to celebrate one another. What a meaningful thing to learn early.

Someone sent me what was clearly an AI generated doc. I read it, realized it was all AI, had my AI summarize it and ended up with nothing that brought new thinking to the idea... This is a doom loop.  If we're not careful, we'll end up with a very expensive way to avoid writing and reading in an ocean of sameness, genericness... Let's not do that. Let's go another way where AI helps us to do things, to learn things, to create things, but in ways that we enhance and advance with our distinct perspectives and unique experiences!

Jeff Sanders and Kelly O. Kay just published the book titled “Show Up to Win”, which offers a practical guide on how to differentiate yourself not only during a job transition but also throughout your professional career. I highly recommend every leader read and absorb the timeless advice of Jeff and Kelly before considering a career move. https://lnkd.in/gkgDYdde

The company pointed to over 30 million paid seats for the Microsoft 365 Copilot work assistant. There were over 20 million as of July." Kudos to the teams across Microsoft and LinkedIn. From helping people build careers on LinkedIn to helping them get work done with Microsoft 365 and Copilot, we're fortunate to serve professionals at every stage of their journey. https://lnkd.in/e_7NgExK

I did not expect to be in the same sentence as a Daytime Emmy nomination. I also didn’t expect a lot of things. That’s kind of the point of the show. To the guests who shared their paths, and the team who built this from nothing, apparently the path leads to some unexpected places! https://lnkd.in/gHUZDZC4 Stephen F. Within Microsoft Copilot, you start something in Word, pull the numbers in Excel, then try to turn it into a story in PowerPoint. The whole time, you're the one making the calls, reading the context, and deciding what actually matters. That’s why the right model in the flow of work matters! Starting today, OpenAI’s GPT 5.6 is beginning to roll out across Word, Excel and PowerPoint which gives customers the world-class reasoning capabilities in the tools where work gets done.
